TURKEYFOOT ROAD WILL FINALLY SEE EXPANSION

The explanation project for Turkeyfoot Road, approved in 1992, will finally begin to see physical progress soon. It has been several years in the planning phases, but work is expected to begin possibly as early as Spring.

The project will be done in three phases, and is projected to cost $26 million dollars. It is designed to convert the single-lane stretches into two-lane stretches.

A section from Linden Woods Drive to Autumn Road will be the first phase. The second phase will be from Autumn Road to Dudley Road. The third phase will go from Autumn Road to Richardson Road.

Construction crews will be keeping one lane in each direction free during the work stages, but drivers can expect delays and slow progress during morning and evening rush hour periods.

Turn lanes will be added at most of the intersections along the way, and some of the dips and curves will be removed or repaired. There have been accidents on Turkeyfoot Road that are the indirect result of some of these dangerous areas.

The expansion project will be 80% funded by the federal government, so progress is expected to continue without much delay.

It is certain that drivers who use Turkeyfoot Road will be inconvenienced to a degree. but the end result should prove to be worth the wait.
